How did your club get started? When?
The Lanikai Canoe Club was started by George Perry, who was member of the
Outrigger Canoe Club in the 1920s and 1930s. After moving his family to the
windward side, George Perry started Lanikai Canoe Club in 1953 to share his love of paddling with the youth on the windward side of Oahu.
What is the goal/mission of this club?
The mission of Lanikai Canoe Club is to maintain and perpetuate the
Hawaiian culture through the promotion of competitive and recreational
outrigger canoe paddling for youth, family, and the community. The Lanikai
Canoe Club Goal is to provide the finest paddling experience for each of our
members and the community.
Anything else you would like share?
Lanikai Canoe Club has claimed the HCRA Championships in 2008, 2010, 2012
(shared title with Kailua), 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023.
