Hoewa'a Dallas Outrigger CC

How did your club get started? When?

Started June 4th, 2004 when Aaron Olds (A local paddler from Kauai), asked a few people if they would help him start a club if he drove to California. He picked it up and brought it back and the club was born. We currently average about 40 members which is huge for Texas. This year we celebrate our 20th year.

What is the goal/mission of this club?

Since our launch in 2004, Hoewa'a Dallas Outrigger Canoe Club promotes a healthy lifestyle through Hawaiian outrigger canoeing. Hawaiian culture and spirit is on full display as we combine an appreciation for family, nature, community and competitiveness, all while having tons of fun. We welcome all with Aloha.

What else would you like to share?

We are the largest club in Texas with an average of 35-40 members each year. We participate in races all across the country and hope to one day host our own race that will attract paddlers from across the country.
