Red Bull Heavy Water, arguably the most intense stand-up paddling event in the world, lived up to its name last Friday as part of the 2017 APP World Tour circuit. The location guaranteed 32 of the world’s best SUP athletes, waves pushing 15 feet high and consisted of an open course stretching 12 km (7.5 miles) from Ocean Beach and finishing just past the Golden Gate Bridge. Congratulations to the 2017 victor Casper Steinfath who took home $20,000 of the $50,000 purse in a grueling 1:15:01.
