There have been a lot of firsts in US history but the large scale elimination of public lands hits home for those of us who cherish the outdoors. We all love to explore, recreate and enjoy the natural wonders of the wilderness. The US has kept a lot of this land safe from infringement and a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. These lands are now threatened because they will no longer be federally protected and could be exploited by special interest groups. Further, some of these lands hold historical and cultural meaning for Native Americans. This elimination is unfortunate on many levels.
