Dragon Boat Races

It's a Sydney Chinese New Year! On Sunday, February 10th the Darling Harbour Dragon Boat Race will turn out 3,000+ paddlers starting with the traditional Taoist Eye Dotting Ceremony.  A don't miss!

The biggest Dragon Boat Race meet in the southern hemisphere returns to Darling Harbour in 2017.

More than 3,000 paddlers will churn up the water as thousands of spectators line the banks of Cockle Bay to watch the spectacular 12 metre long Dragon Boats battle it out.

Originating in the rivers of Southern China as a way to encourage prosperous rains, today Dragon Boat racing has evolved into a fast-paced water sport.  Feel your heart race in time with the onboard drummers, and marvel at fierce dragons slicing through the water. Arrive early on Saturday morning to experience a traditional Taoist Eye Dotting Ceremony to ensure a safe weekend of racing.
